Our History
The Business
Incubator of Székesfehérvár - as the third one in Hungary - started its operation
in 1993.
The idea of its foundation emerged in 1990 in connection with the
purposeful utilisation of the former Russian Barracks. In October 1991 the
Municipal Government of Székesfehérvár decided to initiate the registration
of the Public Foundation for the Development of Enterprise and Existence by
the Court of Registration and to assign the Public Foundation to manage the
Incubator professionally.
A team of experts in Chorley (the twin town in England)
provided us useful and regular help according to English experiences. In February
1993, both the technical deliverance of the building and the housing of new
tenants were achieved.
We have been trying to extend the original 2383 m2
rentable area since we started to operate. We have resulted in a handover
of a house with an approximately 550 m2 total area, moreover, we finished
a 1-floor addition project on 7th February in 2008 in order to provide an
extra 1600 m2 area for innovative entrepreneurs.
Our plan includes more expansion
and development due to our non-profit operation and policy in the further
years. We aim to establish a modern innovation centre in our present 3200
m2 area. According to our plan, large workrooms will be designed besides other
office rooms.
The average number of companies operating in the Incubator (called
Tenants) varies between 38 and 42. (See Our Tenant) Beside them, there are
more than 20 co called external tenants who do not rent premises but resort
our services, or at least some parts of them. Our tenants are from different
fields with various operations like nanotechnology, software development,
architectural design, bar-code technologies, printing industry, commercial
issues, transporting and even a bookshop.
The staff consists of 16 members.
Mr. István Annus (Chief Executive Officer) is the head of the Incubator, and
three colleagues of the staff (Deputy Manager, Financial and Service Managers)
are responsible for managing and organizing tasks. Our Incubator provides
various kinds of services at favourable prices either to companies or citizens.
The services are under a constant development in order to foster innovative
operation. We have launched numerous business development projects for SMEs
and employment programmes.
The Business Incubator of Székesfehérvár provides
seat and administration tasks to the Hungarian Business Incubator Association.
As a result of this, we are familiar with the conditions of national incubators,
their needs, demands and development possibilities. According to our achievements,
BIC Szkesfehrvr is said to be one of the well-known and appreciated centres
in Hungary.
We take part in numerous professional organizations thus we are
a governing organization of Innovation Council of Székesfehérvár, we are a
member of Innovation Council of the Central Transdanubian Regional Innovation
Council, we are among the owners of Central Transdanubian Regional Innovation
Agency Non-profit Co., and we have been a full member of EBN (European BIC
Network) since 2008 so we are entitled to use the BIC Quality Mark.
Public Foundation of Enterprising Centre as a shorten name of the Public Foundation
for the Development of Enterprise and Existence was registered as an official
name by the Court of Registration in 2003. Due to this change, our participation
in local innovation tasks as one of our missions was stated in the Deed of
Foundation.
We started to suit our structural operation according to TQM in
2009, and we successfully won the "C2E - Committed to Excellence" qualification
as the first level of EFQM.
